Holy Family Benevolent Fund

Gifts to the Holy Family Benevolent Fund benefit the residents of Holy Family Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Residential Services Communities.

Purpose of the Benevolent Care Fund
The purpose of the Holy Family Benevolent Fund is twofold: primarily, it will be used to help pay for the uncompensated care of residents in our residential services facilities - the difference between the regular room rate and what the resident is able to pay.

Secondarily, the Holy Family Benevolent Fund will be used to establish, develop and support quality care programs for the benefit of our residents...programs that otherwise could not be provided.

Expenditures are controlled by the purposes of the bequests/donations. Within these restrictions, the Fund may be spent for program/development purposes

Annual Wish List Campaign

Each year, Holy Family Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Residential Services conduct their Annual Wish List Campaign. The funds raised are designated for that particular year’s ‘Wish List,” with 100% of the donations benefitting the residents in both communities.

The theme of the current campaign is “Compassionate Care…Always!” A copy of the Wish List letter and explanation of the program follows:

As always has been and always will be, Compassionate Care of our 208 residents is the primary reason for the existence of Holy Family Manor. Our 400 plus staff members commit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing the care our resident’s so richly deserve.

The Purpose of the 2008 Wish List Campaign: Computerized Electronic Recordkeeping.
By 2012, the Federal government will require all medical records to be filed electronically. Currently, records are paper files kept in notebooks shared by nursing, doctors, social services and the pharmacist on all three shifts. Records of each resident must be retained for seven years after date of discharge.

Expense of Recordkeeping Program
To meet the government requirements, $100,000 is budgeted for 20 portable computers, software, hardware and training of the nursing staff – 66 RN’s and 136 nursing assistants – who will operate and utilize the system.

Advantages
Most importantly, electronic recordkeeping will free the nursing staff from paperwork, enabling them to devote more time to provide hands-on care and quality of life improvements for our residents. Also, assessing and tracking the resident’s care statistics will improve their medical care.

Benefits to the Residents
Again, the most important benefit is the care of our residents. Accurate, timely recordkeeping of our residents care is essential in their treatment. Staff, doctors, hospital and emergency care personnel will, at the push of a button, have access to critical up-to-the-second information about each resident. This ensures everyone involved in the resident’s care will have accurate and secure resident information.

We need YOU to answer the call to make the 2008 Wish List Campaign a success. Your gift, large or small, will help us continue to fulfill our mission of providing the finest physical, emotional, social and spiritual care to the residents in our care.
